NIL rules by state
High school NIL, state by state.
High school NIL rules are set by each state’s athletic association, and they differ a lot — in some states a paid deal can cost an athlete their eligibility. Each guide cites the association’s own rules and says when it was last checked.
- Arkansas
Under the 2026-27 AAA Handbook, most Arkansas high school athletes still cannot be paid to use their name or picture in advertising. Violations can cost up to 365 days of eligibility.

- Louisiana
Louisiana's Act 810, effective August 1, 2026, lets high school athletes earn NIL money — with parent consent, disclosure to the school before signing, and banned categories. LHSAA rules still apply too.
